Foxwoods FPC

In this casino poker event, we began with 5,000 chips and the blinds were 40 minutes long. In the 2nd level, the blinds were 50/100 and I was down to about 3900 chips.

Two players limped in and I had AA on button. I raised 5x the BB to 500. This got all but one limper to fold. This alone was a success. I eliminated my poker field to one opponent, and I had position on him.

A dream flop came: Ad-2c-3c.

I flopped a set of aces. For this player to limp in and then call 400 more, I did not expect him to have a hand like 4-5. The only thing to be afraid of was the possible club draw.

He checked to me. Even though I slammed this flop, I don’t want to slow play my set. It doesn’t benefit me at all to give my opponent a free card. He probably puts me on an ace, so if he catches up and pairs he still likely will not feel like he has the best hand. If he has a flush draw, I have to charge him to chase it.

The pot was 1250 and I bet 1100, a nearly pot sized bet. He shoves and I have him barely covered. I make a quick call and he tables Kc-Jc.

He has a flush draw and I have top set. I hold and get off to an early lead. I played my aces straight forward and was rewarded. Still, fading a flush draw is never fun. I had to correct my mistakes playing poker online.
