Mobile Broadband Gaining Worldwide Popularity in the Corporate Sector

A survey conducted by GSM Association claims that mobile broadband is gaining popularity among big businesses in the IT sector. The survey report indicates that mobile technology budgets worldwide are expected to become twofold over the coming year, with mobile broadband set to be the major beneficiary alongside Wi-Fi and other remote access technologies.

The results of the survey covering 1,000 businesses across Europe, America and the Asia Pacific region, proved that companies on an average provide 12.3 per cent of their staff with mobile broadband. More than 70 per cent of the companies provide VPN access, laptops or other remote access technologies for their staff.

Michael O’Hara, CMO of GSMA, said that the results undoubtedly show that companies have identified the flexibility and freedom delivered by HSPA Mobile Broadband and they have the eagerness to promote such technologies.

Though mobility has become the buzzword in business circles, most of the decision makers in corporate houses are still unsurprisingly reserving their tech spend for themselves. Nearly 60 per cent companies have mobile broadband facility, such as laptops on contract, reserved exclusively for the company directors and managers, and below 40 per cent let their sales representatives use it.

Worldwide, over 800 mobile operators are GSMA members, thereby representing the preferences of the global mobile communications industry.
