Intelius Increases Charitable Giving in 2008
Just as the corporate community cut back on charitable giving because of the economic recession, Bellevue-based company Intelius gave more instead, donating over $210,00 in 2008 to more than a dozen local and national nonprofits. The six year-old search, screening and identity protection provider, with its 194 employees, has been an active partner for nonprofits since its establishment in 2003.
“I am inspired by the amazing work done by the nonprofit groups we work with, and I want to instill that passion not only within Intelius, but as an example for others to follow,” explained Naveen Jain, co-founder and CEO of Intelius. “Our country is facing an unprecedented number of people in need and we felt it was our responsibility to step up when the economy forced others to step back.”
Among the nonprofits gifted by Intelius include Hopelink, an organization that aims to assist low-income people attain self-sufficiency. Other nonprofit partners for 2008 included Overlake Service League, Children’s Hospital, Treehouse, Bellevue Boys & Girls Club, Eastside Domestic Violence Program, and the Bellevue School Foundation.
Intelius has also set up a $170,000 scholarship endowment program at the University of Washington to provide financial assistance to undergraduate students in Business and Computer Science & Engineering. For 2009, Intelius is institutionalizing the Employee Matching and Employee Giving Program to further boost its philanthropy.
